EXP-0 Video Game Convention February 2018

This is quite an old one that I forgot to post but I thought "better late than never".  I know my work has really improved since this event it was one of my first wins of the new after taking over my new studio and I still wanted to share this with you guys.

In January, I was asked to shoot a photobooth at Northumbria University's Students Union EXP-0 Video Game Convention. I was a bit nervous as before this I had only done photo booths at university and I'd never done on my own before.

I setup my gear the night before and got to the event nice and early to get setup. Unfortunately at the start of the day the Maids from the event's cafe, that had also setup nearby my backdrop decided to borrow the backdrop to shoot some polaroids. Despite this I got some pretty good photos on the photo booth then at lunchtime I packed away my gear and when down to the main hall to get some photos of the Cosplay Competition on the main stage.

I then setup my tripod and camera in-front of the stage so I could get a good shot of the contestants without blocking the stage for the audience. The competition went on for about an hour and a half and I managed to get another set of photos of the contestant. The event closed up pretty quickly after this but I managed to snap a few more photos before everyone headed home.

Overall, I really enjoyed the convention and I was really pleased with how the photos turned out. I also think I learnt a lot from the experience and I'm going to try and attend more conventions next year and possibly try to do some more photo-booths as well.

Cosplosion

A few weeks ago, I was invited along to shoot some photos at Cosplosion by the event's organiser Amy. Cosplosion was her first independent convention held at The North East Land, Sea and Air Museum (NELSAM) located next to The Nissan Factory on the outskirts of Sunderland.

I was really excited and proud to be invite as their official photographer. The museum was a really interesting location for a convention and there were plenty of fantastic cosplayers at the event. I spent most of my time at the event photographing the main stage. Starting with the Princesses Performance and The Cosplay Competition. Because I spent most of my time shooting at the stage, I didn't get a lot of posed cosplay photos but I'm still really happy with the ones I shot and I've posted some of my favourites below.

I really enjoyed this event and I hope Amy organised another one next year. Anyway please check out some of my favourite photos from the event and let me know what you think.
