Scouting the Valentines Fun Fair 2019

Last year I wanted to shoot with a model at The Valentines Fun Fair in Team Valley, so I decided to go and have a look around the location a few days before the shoot. This gave me a chance to learn where the rides were, look for inspiration and plan my shots.

I took a few photos of the rides and then I met up with Rebecca and Reece and I took some shots of them shooting and posing around the fair. I love shooting with colour gels in studios and all the lights on the fair looked amazing. It's really inspired me to try more ideas with my gels and hopefully, I'll be able to give them a go when the lockdown is lifted.

If you'd like to see the rest of the photos from this set you can see them here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/NJDunnPhotography/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1873809016053536 and please let me know what you think!

Kirsty's Modelling Day: Behind the Scenes

Here's a throwback to Kirsty's Modelling Day at Trinity Photography Studio. Kirsty won Miss County Durham 2018/19 pageant and hosted a modelling day at the studio shot by Rebecca Annan Photography.

I was there to help out but I got the chance to work with a few of the models and some Behind the Scenes photos of Rebecca shooting on the backdrop. Since I'm stuck at home during the lockdown, I'm trying to catch up on some old editing and thought I'd post some of my favourite Behind the Scenes photos here.

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think of my shots.

The Hoppings 2019 Maryam

Here's my third and final set of photos at The Hoppings 2019 with the stunning Maryam from The Mode Influence modelling agency. I had a shift at work on the day of the group shoot so I was bit late and only had time to shot a few images with Maryam on the carousel. Even though we were a little rushed for time, I am really happy with our shots and I've posted my favourites here. They were shot using my Nikon D610, 50mm lens and natural light from the setting sun.

For the full shoot check out my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/NJDunnPhotography/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1925414490892988

I'll be posting the photos from my solo shoot at The Hoppings as soon as I finish editing them but until then thanks for reading and let me know what you think.

The Hoppings 2019 Danny

Here's my second set of photos at The Hoppings 2019 with Danny from The Mode Influence modelling agency. Since I was late arriving at the group shoot I was only able to get a few shots with Danny but I've posted some of my favourites here. I shot these with natural light and my trusty Nikon D610 with a 50mm lens and I'm very happy with the results, although I wish we'd had more time to shoot and explore the fair.

For the full shoot check out my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/NJDunnPhotography/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1925414490892988

Please let me know what you think and thanks for reading.

The Hoppings 2019 Sophie

I've done a few shoots at the Valentine's Fun Fair in Team Valley, Gateshead but since it's in February it's always cold and the sunsets very quickly. That's great for shooting in the dark but my models have normally frozen to death by then. For a while now I've wanted to shoot at The Hoppings so when The Mode Influence modelling agency announced they were going to do a group shoot at the fair I leapt at the chance.

I was a little bit late to the party because I was working at a call centre and had to drive over at the end of my shift. The agency had 5 other photographers and 3 models already at the fair and after a bit of searching I managed to find them and join the group. I got the chance to shoot with all 3 models but I only managed to get a few shots with Maryam and Danny, as they'd already been shooting for a while and wanted to head home.

I managed to shoot quite a bit with the awesome Sophie; starting on the carousel then on the exit of a ride and finally on the side of the dodgems. Since I was in a bit of a rush and the weather was lovely I shot solely with my Nikon D610 and 50mm lens and I am really pleased with the results.

You can check out the rest of the photos from this set on my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/NJDunnPhotography/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1925414490892988 and I'll post my shots with Maryam and Danny later this week. I also managed to arrange my own shoot here with the gorgeous Rachel and I'll be posting them as soon as I finished editing them.

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think.

North East Calendar Girls Finale

Good afternoon everyone. I hope everyone is staying safe and isolated during the Coronavirus lockdown. I'm in the North East of England and apparently we're now on the edge of the peak now so this is quite a scary time for us all.

I thought I'd relieve the boredom by writing a few more posts, starting with my latest photography event; the finale of The North East Calendar Girls 2019 at House of Smith. I was given a press pass to attend the event by the organizers and I knew quite a few of the contestants so I thought I'd go along to shoot some images and support some friends.

I was already out at The Great North Run on the same day so I was rushing to get to the venue in time and it was very crowded when I got there. I managed to squeeze in at the end of the runway and but it was quite tight. Because I didn't have enough space, I decided to use my standard 24-85mm lens on my Nikon D610 and attached my SB-700 speed-light to the hot-shoe and bounced the light off the ceiling. I'd usually use my speed-light with a collapsable softbox and radio triggers, which I'd hold in my left hand, to a sidelight on the subject but I just didn't have enough space.

Despite this, I managed to get a few shots of each of the finalists on the catwalk (the portrait shots). Then after they'd all walked down, there was an interlude so the crowd could vote for the winners. I tried to get some shots of the contestants mingling with the crowd but because it was so crowded I really struggled to get some shots I was happy with. After the voting, I returned to my position and switched to landscape shots to shoot the winners returning to the catwalk. I even managed to get a few group shots of the winners on the catwalk and backstage in the dressing room.

By this point, it was getting really late so I decided to call it a night and headed home. All in all it was a great event and it was great getting to seeing some of my friends on the catwalk. I was hoping to shoot some more events this year but due to the epidemic lockdown that's looking more and more unlikely.

I've seen a few of the finalists calendar photos but I can't wait to see the final product. If you'd like to see the rest of my photos from the event, you can find them on my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/NJDunnPhotography/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2071059942995108
